Shopify checklist for a Google Merchant Center misrepresentation suspension
Updated November 2026 · Based on Google's public Merchant Center help pages
If your Shopify store was suspended for misrepresentation, work through this list before requesting a review. It covers the settings and pages that most often cause problems.
1. Store details
- In Settings → Store details, check the store name, business address, phone and email.
- Make them match Merchant Center Settings → Business info exactly.
2. Policy pages
- In Settings → Policies, open the refund, privacy, terms of service, shipping and contact information policies.
- Replace any generated or template text with your real details: return window, who pays return shipping, refund timing, delivery times and costs.
- Read them side by side and remove contradictions.
- Compare them to your return and shipping settings in Merchant Center.
3. Footer and navigation
- In Online Store → Navigation, make sure the footer links to your contact page and every policy page.
- Show your business name, email and address in the footer.
- Click every footer link and check that none are broken.
4. Contact and About pages
- A contact page with email, phone and address, not just a form.
- An About page that says who runs the store and what you sell.
5. Theme leftovers
- Search the theme for placeholder text, sample addresses, demo reviews and "lorem ipsum".
- Remove trust badges or awards you can't back up.
6. Products and pricing
- Price and availability on each product page should match your feed.
- Avoid permanent compare-at prices and sales that never end.
- Remove fake countdown timers and made-up "only 2 left" messages.
- Show shipping costs before checkout, and make sure checkout can be completed.
7. Store access
- Turn off the storefront password page.
- Make sure products don't redirect to the homepage and policy pages load for logged-out visitors.
8. Then request a review
Only once everything above is done. Read how reviews and cool-downs work first.
